Technology Management:
Market Analysis Provider

Challenge

The acquisition in 2008 of an international financial market data provider by a global market analysis provider provided the company with an unprecedented opportunity to position itself as a leader in providing organizations and individuals with access to intelligent information across a range of industries. Part of the acquisition involved the integration of more than 30 global data centers whose operations reflected a variety of business models, processes, policies, and standards. Recognizing that this model was unsustainable, difficult to scale, and inefficient, the analysis provider engaged CS Technology to develop a site operations transformation program that would enable the new entity’s data center operations to achieve greater transparency, consistency, and value.

Solution

Using the client’s development concept, which organized the project around a holistic view of people, processes, and tools, CST conducted a detailed current-state analysis that would serve as the point of departure for the subsequent transformation program. Our recommendations for the data center integration effort were delivered within a framework based on an information technology information library (ITIL) management model. A service blueprinting exercise was also conducted that helped establish clarity and consensus around the services that would be offered by the client’s global site operations group.

Result

The resulting roadmap provided senior managers with an actionable plan for conducting a series of initiatives focused on increasing efficiency and achieving reductions in operating expenses. In addition to assisting the client with the implementation of the roadmap, CST has been engaged to deliver similar services for other groups within the organization, and to assist with the planning of a global command center.
