Performance Practice:
Global Brokerage Corporation
Challenge
While growth is a goal of every organization, it also brings new challenges that can ultimately limit an organization’s ability to retain customers and increase revenues. Having achieved significant growth through a platform based on complex, distributed technology, a major global brokerage firm found itself faced with capacity constraints within its data centers, lengthy timelines for introducing new technical improvements, and growing management and operational costs.
The firm engaged CS Technology to provide clear strategic direction in two areas: addressing short-term demands that would improve its time to market for new technical improvements, and developing a long-term, integrated data center strategy and roadmap. Through these efforts, the company hoped to achieve cost reductions, better alignment between its service offerings and business requirements, and a more streamlined operation.
Solution
Working closely with the client, CST developed a tactical program to increase capacity in their core data centers by consolidating technology in ways that would reduce demand on those capabilities. We analyzed the company’s application and infrastructure architectures and developed detailed projections that identified the capacity levels that would be required over time, how those levels could be achieved, and the workload required to manage them.
Result
As a result of the client’s positive response to the roadmap, CST was retained to implement the recommendations outlined in our report. By the end of the first year of execution, the client had realized the projected reduction in costs and infrastructure, and was on track to achieve its goals for consolidating its facilities.
